Roero DOCG was created in 2005.
The law: Roero DOCG: Min 95% Nebbiolo, aged min 20 months with 6 months in barrel, min 12.5% abc, 100% from Roero
Notes: Notes of spice, sour cherries, forest fruit. Elegant and refined, bold and fragrant; ages well.
History: Nebbiolo has been grown in Roero for hundreds of years, as it has in the rest of Piedmont. Here, the soils have a higher concentration in sand than their counterparts, Barolo and Barbaresco which allows them to be more elegant and refined instead of large power house and, as a result are ready for consumption sooner. However, the best examples can have a very long life.
